Investigations

An investigation is not a well written opinion, it is a set of verified facts, cross checked against documentary sources and maintained even when they embarrass whoever funds them. Every text in this section follows the same verification protocol before publication, with no exceptions for sensitive subjects and no shortcuts for lack of time.

The goal is not speed but precision. We publish when the fact is confirmed, not when it is convenient to publish it, and we would rather be late on a story than early on an error. An accusation without documentary proof is not investigative journalism, it is a rumour formatted as an article, and a rumour formatted as an article is exactly what this space exists not to produce.

Verifying costs time. Publishing without verifying costs credibility, and credibility, once lost, is not recovered with a quiet correction or a generic apology. That is why every investigation in this section cites its sources explicitly, every fact with its provenance, so that any reader can verify for themselves that what is stated here is not stated lightly.
